PUEBLO, Colo. (April 24, 2022) – Colorado State University Pueblo women's lacrosse (3-12, 3-8 RMAC) closed out its home slate with a 18-4 loss to Colorado Mesa (11-4, 9-1 RMAC) Sunday afternoon.

The final home game of the day kicked off with quick goals from Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks jumped to a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter before the Pack were able to find an answer. CSU Pueblo's all-time leading scorerÂ
Emily Eller was able to net the ThunderWolves' first goal of the afternoon.

In the second quarter,Â
Annika Ponse stood tough in goal, as she fended off flurry shots to begin the frame. Then with 8:29 to go in the second,Â
Sedona Sargent notched a score off a free position opportunity to pull the Pack within four goals.

Colorado Mesa was able to get back in rhythm and scored four more goals on the Pack defense to put the ThunderWolves in a 10-2 hole at the halftime break.Â

Out of the break, Colorado Mesa notched another goal before the Pack were able to find an answer. Eller tallied her second goal of the afternoon with 10:05 to go in the third quarter. The nice goal from the graduate attacker did not deter the Mavericks, as the frame ended with CSU Pueblo behind 15-3.

Sargent hurled in one more goal for the Pack tally with 3:07 to go in the game, but the Pack ended up falling to Colorado Mesa 18-4.

Jillian Kelly, Caira Lessick and Eller each caused a turnover whileÂ
Vivian Reukauf, Samantha Schmidt and Eller all logged two or more ground balls.

CSU Pueblo finishes its 2022 season at Fort Lewis College on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Durango, Colo.
