ThunderWolves Rock San Francisco State With 27 Runs

PUEBLO, Colo. (Feb. 20, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo baseball team (5-7) dominated throughout during the four-game series finale Sunday finale with San Francisco State University (5-3) and claimed a 27-2 statement win. Each of the nine starting batters logged at least two hits in the 27-2 rout and seven players notched two or more RBIs.
 
The series finale started with the Gators jumping ahead 2-0 after the top of the first inning. Despite having their backs against the walls, the ThunderWolves responded with a big first inning.
 
Brady Prewitt notched an RBI double to left center to score Noah Hennings from third after his triple. Trey Vasquez kept it going with a hard-hit single to score Prewitt from second. Later, Vasquez scored from third thanks to a Reggie Williams single to right. Finally, Tyson Pallatt singled home Ty Lewis for the fourth run of the first inning.
 
Cole Martin shut down the Gators in the top of the second and moved the Pack into the bottom half with a strong 4-2 lead. Vasquez tallied two RBIs off a triple as Brady Prewitt and Hennings crossed the plate. Vasquez scored off a Lewis single who came around to score off a sacrifice fly by Williams.
 
The Pack exited the second inning ahead 8-2.
 
The levee broke open a flood of runs for the Pack in the bottom of the third. Kysen Howard and Jacob Federico started the inning with back-to-back hits and were both batted home by Prewitt. Lewis knocked home a run followed by Williams sending two more across the plate. Pallatt, Federico and Hennings each notched RBIs and helped the Pack to a nine-run inning. 
 
Martin fed off the energy and took the game into the bottom of the fourth inning with the ThunderWolves ahead 17-2.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, Lewis scored off a Matt Shea single after getting aboard via a double. Pallatt, Federico, Hennings, Prewitt, Vasquez, Lewis and Williams all tallied RBIs in the inning. Brock Rodrigues pinch hit in the inning as well and knocked home his first RBI of the season thanks to a single.
 
The big fourth inning saw 10 runs for the Pack and led to a 27-2 lead after just four innings. After a scoreless fifth, Charlie Williams came on in the sixth and shut down the Gators. Play was called after the sixth inning and the ThunderWolves clinched the 27-2 victory.
 
The 27 runs are the most scored for the Pack since 2019 when they did it again against Adams State. 
 
Reggie Williams led the onslaught with five RBIs while Prewitt batted 5-5 with four RBIs and Hennings hit 3-3 with a single, double and triple.
 
Off the overpowering win over the Gators, the Pack split the four-game set 2-2 and ultimately outscored the Gators 39-32 on the weekend.
 
CSU Pueblo will to carry that momentum as the Pack will host the University of Mary March 1 at 2 p.m. at Rawlings Field.
