Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Thunderwolves’ Second Half Surge Leads Them to Victory

PUEBLO, Colo. (December 10, 2022) – In what looked to be a back-and-forth affair with the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College it was the strong second-half push from the CSU Pueblo women's basketball team that propelled them to the win by a score of 61-46. The ThunderWolves now move to 6-4 with a 3-1 record in conference play.

A slow start to the game saw the Pack beginning 0-6 from the field before finally hitting a shot, but it seemed the make sparked the offense as they came around to trailing only by one to finish the first quarter by a score of 13-12.

More defensive battles highlighted the second quarter as going into half it was still tight with the Pack only behind two.

It was the third-quarter drought by the Skyhawks and the hot shooting from the Pack that brought in 16 points to pull ahead 41-31. Tomia Johnson's buzzer-beater three-pointer to end the quarter brought the lead to 10 points.

A strong fourth-quarter finish of 20 points sealed the deal as the Pack never slowed down en route to the win.

Johnson and Charisse Fairley led the women offensively on the day with Fairley collecting 13 points and Johnson gathering 14 points.
