Game SummaryÂ
Â
After allowing a lead-off home run, the ThunderWolves responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to open a 3-1 lead. Welch started things off by drawing a 12-ptich walk, then came around to score when Williams singled and an error by the shortstop moved the players up. Lewis followed with a single up the middle to plate Williams. Lewis made his way to third before an error helped him score.
Â
It wouldn't be until the fifth when the ThunderWolves scored again, as freshmanÂ
Cole Knightley (INF, Solvang, Calif.) plated Martinez on a single to center to give the Pack a 4-2 lead.Â
Â
CMU scored twice in the sixth to knot the game up at 4-4.Â
Â
In the seventh, CSU Pueblo put together four runs on three hits to break open an 8-4 lead. After the Pack loaded the bases, Williams was hit by a pitch and Knightley scored. Lewis then put the ball out to center and scoredÂ
Brock Rodrigues (So., Utlility, Pueblo, Colo.) and Welch. Finally, Williams scored on a perfect hit and run bunt by Shea.Â
Â
The ThunderWolves added an insurance run in the eighth when Williams singled through the left side to score Welch.Â
Â
The Mavericks hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to three at 9-6, but that is where it would stay, as the home team proved victorious.
