POSTGAME COMMENTS
"The team did a much better job coming out strong in the first half and playing through the end," said CSU Pueblo Head Coach
Monica Potter. "We came closer to our goal of playing 60 minutes today and there were positive takeaways. We now need to focus on the small details and perfect them."
PLAYER PERFORMANCES
Senior
Emily Eller (A, Keller, Texas) came off the bench and was the only other member of the ThunderWolves to record multiple points, as she posted a goal and an assist. The senior also added two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
Freshman
Jade Brooks (A, San Diego, Calif.) scored her first career goal and also picked up two ground balls.
SUMMARY
After not scoring for the first seven minutes and being down 1-0, the ThunderWolves scored twice in the matter of two minutes, as unassisted efforts by Eller and senior
Olivia Tener (M, Boise, Id.) handed the road team a 2-1 lead.
CC scored the next two goals and it wouldn't be until 7:07 left in the period that Lessick scored a player-up goal to tie the game 3-3. The Tigers got on the board next, but Brooks' goal, which was assed by Eller, tied the contest for the fourth time with 4:41 remaining.
CSU Pueblo allowed a player-up goal with just two ticks on the first half clock and went into the locker room trailing 5-4.
The Tigers added to their lead five minutes into the second half, but a few minutes later Lessick's second of the night had the ThunderWolves withing one at 6-5.
Unfortunately for the Pack, CC knocked out three goals between the 18:23 and 15:59 minute marks and opened up a 9-5 advantage.
Lessick completed her hat trick with 15;21 remaining to get the road team within three at 9-6, but only one goal on each side would be scored and the ThunderWolves went down in defeat, 10-7.
