ThunderWolves celebrate Senior Day with DH split versus Adams

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 25, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team celebrated its Senior Day with a doubleheader split against Adams State University, winning game one 8-5 and falling 9-0 (5 inn.) in the series finale.

Prior to game one, Pack Head Coach Christie Koschke and the ThunderWolves recognized six departing seniors who played in their final home games as members of the Pack. Gabby Moreno (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Jordan Sanchez (Pueblo West, Colo.), Sabrina Felix (Corona, Calif.), Karlee Salas (Pueblo, Colo.), Samantha Riesen (Independence, Calif.) and Marissa Piatt (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) all were recognized in a pregame ceremony.

The ThunderWolves were led offensively by Piatt who finished the day with four hits including three RBI and a double and a triple.

In game one, the Pack erupted for 16 hits. Moreno and Piatt led the team with three hits and Riesen, Isabel Griego (Jr., Loveland, Colo.) and Katelynn Ralston (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) all had multiple hits.

Oakleigh Kearby (Fr., Meridian, Idaho) picked up the win in the first game after throwing two innings of relief and allowing two runs on three hits.

Jacelynn Trujillo (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) earned her first save of her young career and tossed 2.0 innings and gave up one hit and finished with two strikeouts.

The Pack scored in every inning except the third inning and left twelve runners on base.

In the finale, the ThunderWolves were limited to two hits. ASU used a four-run third inning and a five-run fourth inning to come away with the win.

CSU Pueblo goes on the road next week and will play a four game series at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The series begins Friday at 12 p.m. at Mountain Lion Field.
