Softball hit parade leads to split of RMAC Opener

GOLDEN, Colo. (February 28, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball begin its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule at Colorado School of Mines, splitting the first two games of a four game set. Mines won game one 7-6 before the Pack erupted for a 13-3 win in the nightcap.

For the day, freshman Katelynn Ralston (Colorado Springs, Colo.) guided the Pack offense, going 6-for-8 at the plate, hitting two doubles and added three RBIs, and scored three runs.

As a team the ThunderWolves totaled 20 hits in the two games, ten of which were doubles. Six Pack players recorded multiple hits.

Jessica Teller (Jr., Firestone, Colo.) set a new career high with four doubles hit, going 4-for-7 witih three RBIs at the plate.

Freshman pitcher Oakleigh Kearby (Meridian, Idaho) picked up her second win of the season in game two, improving to 2-0. Kearby tossed a complete game, giving up three runs on six hits from Mines. She finished with three strikeouts.

Koschke Comments
"The team played well today. We had some errors in the first game that they took advantage of, but we were able to make the adjustments we needed and played a solid defensive second game." said Pack Head Coach Christie Koschke. "Oakleigh threw well and did her job. She kept the hitters off balance and the defense again played well behind her."

"Offensively our hitting started to come together and we were aggressive at the plate. They were tough outs and truly competed."

CSU Pueblo (4-2, 1-1 RMAC) finish the series with another twin bill scheduled for a 11 a.m. first pitch at Joe Coors Jr. Softball Field in Golden, Colo.
