DENVER, Colo. (October 10, 2021) – The Colorado State Pueblo women's volleyball team lost a tough Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference battle against Regis on Saturday afternoon at the Regis Field House.
Despite recording five blocks and dropping the first set to the Rangers in a back-and-forth affair, the ThunderWolves came alive in the second set, posting three straight services aces to take a 19-11 lead. A last run from the Rangers posed a little threat to the Pack, however,
Payton Stack (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) and
Jazzy Espinoza (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) tallied two kills in the tail end of the set to give the ThunderWolves a 25-16 win. The Pack held the Rangers to a .091 hitting percentage while also tallying 4 of the teams 14 total blocks in the set.
A decisive third set saw the Rangers post 18 kills to the ThunderWolves 13 and still managed to keep the set within striking distance. Four service errors haunted the Pack in the third set, as the Rangers walked away with a 25-21 win to take a 2-1 advantage.
The Pack were able to clean up their serves in the fourth set but didn't have an answer for the Rangers outside attack. Regis tallied 18 kills in the set to the ThunderWolves 15 to take a 3-1 win over the Pack.
The ThunderWolves were led by Stack who posted a team high 16 kills, three block assists, and a dig while
Hannah Delor (Jr., Marysville, Mich.) added 12 kills and 10 digs.
Grace Jansen (So., South Jordan, Utah) tallied 23 assists while teammate
Grace Hern (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) recorded 22 assists and 13 digs.
In the back row, the Pack were led by
Elaine Thibadeau (Jr., Monument, Colo.) who registered 18 digs and 4 service aces while
Kyle Meltzer (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo.) added 10 digs.
The ThunderWolves move to 12-4 on the season and 6-2 in conference play to sit tied for 4th place in RMAC standings with Colorado Mesa.
The Pack have a week to prepare as the team will host Fort Lewis on Friday October 15th at 7 p.m. at the Massari Arena.
