Second Half surge leads Pack WBB to 1st win, 62-50

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 16, 2021) -  Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Basketball earned its first win of the 2020-21 season Saturday, knocking off University of Colorado Colorado Springs 62-50 at Massari Arena.
 
Turning Point:
The ThunderWolves opened the second half on a 13-2 run that put them in front for good. Andrea Nelson (So., Pueblo, Colo.) scored all nine of her points during this run.

UCCS cut the Pack's lead to one, 51-50, with 3:20 remaining. However, the ThunderWolves answered, scoring the game's final 11 points and holding the Mountain Lions scoreless for the final 3:20 of the game.  The win vaults the Pack to 1-3 (1-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference), matching UCCS' record.

Individual Highlights:
 - JaNaiya Davis (Jr., Waco, Texas) narrowly missed a triple-double. Davis totaled 16 points and dished out 10 assists. She finished the game with nine rebounds. She went 6-of-10 from the field and sank all four of her free throw attempts. Davis added four steals and two blocks on the defensive side of the ball.  She played all 40 minutes.
 
- Aubriana Noti (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. She added nine rebounds and a career-high four blocks.
 
- Sydni Williams (Sr., Little Rock, Ark.) added 10 points in just 18 minutes.

Notes:
- The ThunderWolves outshot the Mountain Lions 53.8 percent to 23.5 percent in the second half.
 
- The Pack held a 38-14 advantage in the paint.

Up Next:
The ThunderWolves will travel north to face Metropolitan State University Denver Tuesday at 4 p.m.  Tuesday's game makes up a contest originally scheduled for Jan. 3.
