Adams scores 21 in Pack’s clash with Cougars

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 3, 2020) – In their first game of 2020, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball could not overcome Colorado Christian University in a 73-64 loss Friday at Massari Arena.
 
Khiya Adams (Sr., Falcon, Colo.)  scored a season high 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. Adams matched a career-high with a trio of 3-pointers. She finished just one rebound shy of a double-double. Adams also had a season-high two blocks.
 
Kansas Watts (So., Houston, Texas) set a new career-high with 16 points. Watts made 7-of-12 from the field. She had nine rebounds, a season-high. Defensively, Watts had a block and a steal.
 
Harmony Pettis (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) collected 11 points. Pettis drained 5-of-8 from the field.
 
Sydni Williams (Jr., Little Rock, Ark.) had her double-double streak snapped at three games. Williams finished with nine points and eight rebounds. All nine of Williams' points came at the free-throw line where she went 9-of-10. She had two blocks.
 
The Pack led by as many as five in the first quarter. However, the Cougars got a 3-pointer at the buzzer that made it 15-13 after one. Williams had six points in the first.
 
The Cougars caught fire in the second quarter scoring 29 points. They made 57.9 percent from the field and five 3-pointers to take a 42-34 lead into the break. After being held scoreless in the first quarter, Adams erupted with 12 points in the second quarter alone.
 
In the second half, the Cougars built their lead to 11. An 8-0 from the Pack closed the gap to three early in the fourth. The Pack could not get any closer as the Cougars escaped Massari Arena with a 73-64 win.
 
The ThunderWolves will look to split the weekend Saturday when they host Regis University. Tip off between the Pack and Rangers is set for 5:30 p.m.
