Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Christensen reaches career milestones in road loss to No. 4 Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (April 7, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo women's lacrosse senior Taylor Christensen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the 100th goal of her career and surpassed 200 draw controls, as the ThunderWolves fell 16-7 to No. 4 Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, Sunday.

The senior scored three times and tallied an assist to land right on 100 goals in her four-year career with the Pack. She added five draw controls to surpass the 200 mark for her career. Christensen also gathered five ground balls and totaled four caused turnovers. She led the team in all the above mentioned categories.

The ThunderWolves (4-7, 1-4 RMAC) wrapped a run of six games where they played four ranked opponents. The undefeated Lions (12-0, 4-0 RMAC) totaled 46 shots and placed 30 on goal in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest, while the Pack recorded 16 shots with 10 on frame. LU won the ground ball category 28-20 and was stronger at the draw, winning 15 of 25 opportunities.

Outside of Christensen, four players each had one goal. Sophomore Olivia Tener (A, Boise, Idaho) had a goal and tied for the team-high with five draw controls.

On defense, back in her home state sophomore Emily Brewer (D, St. Louis, Mo.) had three ground balls, as did goalie Ane Marie Horton (Sr., Long Beach, Calif.). She finished the game with 14 saves.

The game was even through five minutes, as Tener scored to tie the contest at 1-1. The Lions scored four straight before an Emily Eller (So., Keller, Texas) goal and an assist from Christensen with 18:48 made the score 5-2. The ThunderWolves trailed 9-3 at the half, as Christensen netted her first of the game.

Christensen scored just 45 seconds into the second half to help the Pack get within five, but that would be as close as they would get. The home team scored the next handful of goals to make it 14-4 with 16:41 left. CSU-Pueblo won the final quarter of the game 3-2 with goals from Ali Doyle (Jr., A, Portland, Ore.) and Allison Wurscher (Sr., A, Tigard, Ore.), while Christensen's 100th with just nine seconds left.

Next up for the ThunderWolves is an RMAC battle with Westminster College, April 14 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
