PUEBLO, Colo. (March 1, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball celebrated senior day by blowing out New Mexico Highlands University 81-54 Friday at Massari Arena.
The Pack finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 16-12 record. They posted a 14-8 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves will advance to the RMAC / Under Armour Tournament as the No. 5 seed. This will be the Pack's 17th consecutive postseason appearance, the longest active streak in the conference.
Senior
Jennah Knafelc (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored a game-high 22 points. Knafelc made 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-8 from downtown. She was also a perfect 4-for-4 at the line. Defensively, Knafelc had four steals and a block. She added six rebounds and three assists.
Lauren Heyn (Sr., Loomis, Calif.) scored 13 points in her final game at Massari Arena. Heyn sank 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 at the line. She hauled in seven rebounds and two steals.
Annabelle Brewer (Sr.,, Centennial, Colo.) scored three points. She passed out three assists and came down with three rebounds.
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Adams scored 11 points and tacked on 11 rebounds.
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) totaled 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Davis dealt out five assists.
Playing in her first game in a month,
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Colo.) scored 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Williams made 3-of-4 from the field and 4-of-5 at the line.
The Pack raced out to an 8-2 lead. The Cowgirls rallied within three several times, but the ThunderWolves held them off, leading 16-11 after one.
CSU-Pueblo scored the first eight points of the second half to make their lead double digits. A Cowgirl 3-pointer was followed by another 8-0 run from the Pack that made it 32-14. They led 39-23 at the half.
A 12-0 run in the third quarter put the Pack up 61-29 late in the frame. They led by as many as 32 in the fourth quarter (69-37). CSU-Pueblo rolled to an 81-54 victory.
The Pack made 50.9 percent from the field (30-of-59). They also forced 21 Cowgirl turnovers.
CSU-Pueblo earned the No. 5 seed in the RMAC / Under Armour Tournament. They will travel to Golden, Colo. To face the No. 4 seed Colorado School of Mines (17-10, 14-8 RMAC) Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals.The Pack will look to defend their RMAC Tournament Championship won last year at Massari Arena.
