ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 6, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball roared past Adams State University 64-50 Friday night at Plachy Hall.
With the win, the Pack opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a victory. The Pack has now won its last 12 RMAC openers. CSU-Pueblo has also won its last 17 games against the Grizzlies.
The Pack shot a season-high 48.1 percent (25-of-52) from the field. The ThunderWolves also drained a season-high nine 3-pointers, making 39.1 percent from downtown.
JaNaiya Davis (So., Hewitt, Texas) led all players with 22 points. She made 8-of-14 from the field. Davis also dished out a season-high eight assists. She played all 40 minutes.
Harmony Pettis (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored a season-high 11 points. Like Davis, Pettis played all 40 minutes. Pettis knocked down 3-of-5 from downtown and 4-of-6 from the field. She also snagged four steals.
Khiya Adams (Sr., Falcon, Colo.) contributed 14 points. Adams went 6-for-8 from the field. She sank a pair of 3-pointers. Adams hauled in eight rebounds.
The Grizzlies raced out to a 13-5 lead. CSU-Pueblo countered with 14-2 run to end the quarter. Pettis scored the final five points to give the Pack a 19-15 lead after one.
The two teams remained close in the second quarter. The Pack maintained a 28-27 lead at the half.
As it has been all season, the Pack took charge in the third quarter. The Pack ended the third quarter on an 11-1 run.
Jordyn Keck (Pueblo, Colo.) capped this run with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to make it 45-34 after three.
In the fourth quarter, the Pack pushed their lead to as many as 16. They prevailed 64-50.
Standing 2-4 on the season, the Pack will look for a 2-0 start to RMAC play Saturday when they face Fort Lewis College at 5:30 p.m. The Pack is looking for its 13th consecutive win over the Skyhawks.
