ST. GEORGE, Utah (November 2, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball swiped a set from Dixie State University Saturday but could not upset the Trailblazers as the Pack fell in four sets (20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 18-25).
Sarah Vang (Sr., Parker, Colo.) picked up her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Vang also matched her season with four blocks.
Kelsey Bell (Sr., Los Lunas, N.M.) also earned a double-double. Bell led the Pack with 19 assists. She also contributed 10 digs to secure her sixth double-double of the season.
Brooke Schilling (Jr., Platteville, Colo.) powered the Pack's offense with a team – high 13 kills. She hit a team-best .294 and added seven digs.
Diamond'Nique Young (Fr., Fresno, Calif.) collected a team-high seven blocks. Young had one of the Pack's four solo blocks. Two of those solo blocks came from
Payton Stack (Jr., Casper, Wyo.).
Despite falling behind in the first set 7-2, the Pack rallied to take a 19-17 lead in the opening stanza. The Trailblazers reclaimed the momentum with a 6-0 run and came away with a 25-20 win in the first frame.
After surrendering the first five points of the second set, the Pack rallied once again claiming an 8-7 lead. The two teams continued to trade points until it was tied at 22-22. The Pack scored three of the last four points to tie the match at one set apiece.
With the third set tied at 14, Dixie State went on another 6-0 run that led them to a 25-17 set win.Trailing the fourth set 9-4, the Pack scored seven consecutive points with Bell serving to take an 11-9 lead. Dixie State answered with a 5-0 run of its own to claim the lead for good. They clinched the victory with a 25-18 set win.
CSU-Pueblo now stands 11-13 overall. They own an 8-7 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Dixie State improved to 17-6 (12-3 RMAC).
The Pack's four-match road trip rolls along Friday Nov. 8 when the ThunderWolves face Adams State University. First serve from Alamosa, Colo. is set for 7 p.m.
