PUEBLO, Colo. (October 25, 2019) – For the first time since 2015, Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball took a set from Metropolitan State University Denver. However, the Pack could not complete the upset as the Roadrunners prevailed in four sets (20-25, 21-25, 25-17, 21-25).
The Pack's record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches evened up at 6-6. They now stand 9-12 overall. The Roadrunners improved to 15-4 (10-1 RMAC).
Grace Miles (Jr., Parker, Colo.) led Pack hitters with a .462 hitting percentage. Miles knocked down eight kills. She matched her season -high with four blocks.
Brooke Schilling (Jr., Platteville, Colo.) led the Pack with 13 kills. She finished with eight digs.
Kyle Meltzer (Jr., Fort Collins, Colo.) delivered 20 digs.
Sarah Vang (Sr., Parker, Colo.) chipped in 15 digs.
Page Heller (Sr., Vancouver, Wash.) came up with 10 digs.
Kelsey Bell (Sr., Los Lunas, N.M.) passed out 18 assists. Bell finished with seven digs.
Grace Hern (So., Omaha, Neb.) added 12 assists and seven digs.
In the first set, the Pack raced out to a 14-10 lead. However, the Roadrunners answered back with a 7-0 run to take the lead. The Pack closed within one, making it 21-20. MSU Denver scored the final four points of the set to make it 25-20.
Another 7-0 run for the Roadrunners gave them a 13-7 lead in the second set. The Pack battled back, retaking the lead at 17-16. A 5-0 run put the Roadrunners back in front 21-17. Again the Pack closed within one at 21-20, but again the Roadrunners closed out the Pack, taking the second set 25-21.
The Pack dominated the third set. They outhit the Roadrunners .370 to .114 in the third. CSU-Pueblo led 17-15, but a 5-0 run broke the set open. The Pack rolled to a 25-17.
CSU-Pueblo led the fourth set 14-13. Again it was a 7-0 run that propelled the Roadrunners to a 25-21.
The Pack will wrap up their three-match homestand Saturday when they host Chadron State College at 7 p.m. Saturday's match will be the Pack's Dig Pink night. The ThunderWolves will hold a silent auction with all the proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
