LAS VEGAS, N.M. (October 1, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball upended New Mexico Highlands University in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 25-11, 25-20) Tuesday at the John A. Wilson Complex.
Brooke Schilling (Jr., Platteville, Colo.) powered the Pack's offense with 15 kills. Schilling hit .353 for the match. She finished with seven digs and three blocks.
Grace Hern (So., Omaha, Neb.) dished out 24 assists. Hern put down a pair of aces and came up with four digs.
Jazzy Espinoza (So., Cheyenne, Wyo.) and
Page Heller (Sr., Vancouver, Wash.) each dropped in three aces. Espinoza hit .455 with five kills.
Diamond'Nique Young (Fr. Fresno, Calif.) swatted six blocks. She had one solo block and five block assists. Espinoza,
Grace Miles (Jr., Parker, Colo.),
Maddy Wisniewski (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) each had three blocks.
Each team had runs in the first set. A 6-0 Cowgirl run tied the set at 19, but the Pack used a 5-1 run to propel them to the first set win.
After dropping set two, the Pack dominated set three. They outhit the Cowgirls .320 to -.117. The Pack went on a 13-1 run to make it 22-7. They rolled to a 25-11 win in set three. CSU-Pueblo finished the Cowgirls in the fourth set, taking it 25-20.
The Pack improved to 5-8 on the season. They now have a winning record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at 3-2. New Mexico Highlands fell to 1-12 (0-5 RMAC).
