SPEARFISH, S.D (January 26, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball shot 52.3 percent from the field to knock off Black Hill State University 68-58 Saturday at the Young Center.
The ThunderWolves blocked a season-high 10 shots. They held the Yellow Jackets to 32.3 percent from the field.
Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Knafelc knocked down 6-of-8 at the line. She finished with a team-high seven rebounds. Knafelc added three steals and three assists.
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) did not miss a single shot. Williams went 5-of-5 from the field She went 2-for-2 at the charity stripe to finish with 12 points.
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) swatted a career-high blocks. She tallied 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Adams hauled in six rebounds.
Naomi Torgerson (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) made 5-of-8 from the field en route to a 12-point night. Torgerson collected three steals.
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) scored 12 points. Davis delivered six rebounds and two steals. She made 6-of-8 from the line.
Lauren Heyn (Sr., Penryn, Calif.) blocked three Yellow Jackets shots. Heyn pulled down six rebounds and came away with two steals.
The Pack dominated in the first quarter. CSU-Pueblo closed the opening stanza on a 14-1 run that gave them a 17-5 lead. They held the Yellow Jackets without a field goal for the final four minutes of the frame.
In the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets used an 11-2 swing of their own to cut the Pack's lead to five at 21-16. CSU-Pueblo kept it a two-possession game as they led 28-21 at the half.
An 8-0 run helped the ThunderWolves open their lead to double digits once again as they made it 42-29. They led by as many as 16 and went into the fourth quarter in front 52-40.
The Yellow Jackets rallied in the fourth. With the Pack up 60-47, Black Hills State began a 10-0 run that made it a one possession game with 2:14 left. However, the Pack would score eight of the game's last nine points to pull away with a 68-58 win.
The ThunderWolves stand 11-8 with a 9-4 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Yellow Jackets slipped to 11-6 (7-6 RMAC).
After winning their last three games, the Pack will return home for its first four-game homestand of the year. The ThunderWolves begin this homestand Friday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. when they welcome Colorado School of Mines to Massari Arena.
