Box Score DURANGO, Colo. (October 25, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team picked up a much needed win on the road Thursday, defeating Fort Lewis College 1-0 at FLC Dirks Field in Durango.
The ThunderWolves received their score from Laikyn Koss (Sr., Riverside, Calif.) in the 50' off a rebounded shot initially by Porsche Nieto (Fr., Thornton, Colo.). Koss settled the ball and fired past the FLC goalkeeper for the one-goal lead.
In the first half the ThunderWolves controlled the ball and made eight shots in the half led by Mackenzie Bean (Sr., Bothell, Wash.) with four shots.
At intermission CSU-Pueblo had four shots on goal.
Starting the second half, FLC recorded a shot in the opening two minutes and was awarded a penalty shot at 47:21 showing on the clock and Pack goalkeeper Rylie Martin (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made the save on the wide shot to preserve the shutout.
Following the miss, the Pack drove the ball down field and hit three quick shots at the FLC goalkeeper and the third shot by the Pack was successful on the putback by Koss.
After the goal the ThunderWolves defense stepped up in a big way and limited FLC to minimal good chances at the net.
Three shots by FLC over the last fifteen minutes was saved by Martin.
Martin finished the match with seven saves and faced seventeen shots by FLC.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo (8-5-3, 5-5-2 RMAC) remains in the hunt of a postseason berth with one game to go. Saturday the Pack will travel and play at Adams State at 1:30 p.m. from ASU Soccer Field in Alamosa, Colo.
