Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. (October 21, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against Dixie State University Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Prior to the match, Pack head coach Sierra Cardenas and her staff honored nine seniors on this year's team who was suiting up for the final time at Gonzales Stadium.
Hannah Andresen (Arvada, Colo.), Mackenzie Bean (Bothell, Wash.), Ariana Jimenez (Northglenn, Colo.), Laikyn Koss (Riverside, Calif.), Callie Larson (Ogden, UT), Michelle Moure (Peyton, Colo.), Kylee Sakaguchi (Apple Valley, Calif.), Sarah Tyler (Lenexa, Kan.), and Karley Whiteman (Alta Loma, Calif.) were each honored and given a gift to commemorate the occasion.
For the game CSU-Pueblo outshot the Trailblazers 11-8.
Dixie State's Whitley Johns scored two first half goals to lead the way.
The away team scored first in the 9' off a shot from 10 yards away for an early one goal lead.
After the goal, the Pack recorded their first shot on goal and hit three more times against the Dixie State defense.
The Trailblazers hit goal number two in the 41' on a shot from the top of the box that went inside the left post.
At halftime the ThunderWolves held a 6-5 shots lead, while DSU earned one corner kick.
The second period was a defensive battle between the teams; eight shots combined was recorded.
The Pack had two good scoring chances in the period including one that came with less than two minutes in regulation.
Bean led the team with six shots followed by Koss and her three attempts at the net.
DSU's defense surrendered three shots on goal.
CSU-Pueblo (7-5-3, 4-5-2 RMAC) hits the road next week for the final time during the regular season. The Pack will play Thursday at Fort Lewis and wrap the away schedule Saturday at Adams State.
