Kim finishes day 1 of NCAA Championship in 20th place

ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 13, 2015) – With one round complete at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, Colorado State University-Pueblo's Leina Kim (Jr., Saipan, CNMI) sits in a tie for 20th place. Kim shot a 6-over 78 on the day to finish eight shots behind the leader.

Madison Lellyo of Rollins College leads the 71-player field after day one with a score of 2-under 70. Limestone College's Brittany LaPadula was the only other player to shoot under par as she carded a 1-under 71.

On the team side, University of Indianapolis tops the field with a score of 17-over 305. Rollins College is a close second at 18-over 306, while Central Oklahoma is third with a day-one mark of 24-over 312.

Teeing off in the second group of the day, Kim opened with a bogey at the par-five first hole. She bounced back strong by rolling in a birdie-three at hole two. Kim recorded pars at the next three holes to remain at even-par for the day.

At hole number six, Kim tallied her second birdie of the morning to drop to 1-under par through the first six holes. She finished the front nine with two bogeys and a par to take a score of 1-over par into the back nine.

The final nine holes at The Meadows proved to play tougher for Kim. The junior finished the round with four pars and five bogeys to conclude day one at 6-over 78.

Kim will tee off in the final grouping Thursday as she will take to the course at 8:25 (MDT).
