WICHITA FALLS, Texas. (March 17, 2015) – For the sixth time this season, Colorado State University-Pueblo women's golfer Leina Kim (Jr., Saipan, CNMI) posted a top-three tournament finish after placing second at the conclusion of play at the Midwestern State Invitational. As a team, the ThunderWolves finished in 13th place with a team score of 708 at Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Host Midwestern State University won the 36-hole event with a final score of 617. West Texas A&M University finished in second place seven strokes behind the Mustangs with a score of 624. Academy of Art University (626), Tarleton State University (630) and Rogers State University (640) finished in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
WT's Glory Jangthongsiri bested Kim by one stroke, finishing with a 7-over 151 mark. Sierra Campbell and Sarah Moore of Midwestern State and Whitlee Woods of WT rounded out the top five with identical 9-over 153 scores.
After shooting a 1-under 71 in round one, Kim carded a 9-over 81 on day two to drop from a first-place tie to second place. The junior finished the tournament with the top scoring average on par-four holes at 4.10. She posted the second-most birdies during the event with seven.
Julie Sanchez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) entered day two in a tie for 26th, but a 16-over 88 dropped the senior to a tie for 41st following the conclusion of play. Sanchez finished with a total score of 168.
Both Megan McCutcheon (Fr., Monument, Colo.) and Natasha Navarro (So., San Antonio, Texas) improved on their day-one scores, helping them move up several spots on the leaderboard. McCutcheon improved by two strokes to finish the tournament with a score of 196, which placed her in 77th. Navarro improved by seven strokes, placing her 78th with a final mark of 199.
Danielle DuPont (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) rounded out the scoring for the Pack with a 36-hole total of 208, landing her in 81st.
The ThunderWolves return to the course April 3-4 in Goodyear, Ariz. at the Mustang Intercollegiate.
