GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (September 30, 2014) ~ The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's golf team completed the final round of the RMAC #2 Tournament, today, at the Bookcliff Country Club. The ThunderWolves improved on their day-one score by 13 strokes to post a 36-hole score of 655, finishing in eighth-place.
CSU-Pueblo's Leina Kim (Jr., Saipan, CNMI) and Julie Sanchez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) both climbed up the leaderboard on the final day to finish in a tie for third with matching scores of 9-over 153. Kim posted a second-round mark of 76 to move up from a sixth-place tie, while Sanchez tallied the top score (74) of day two to move up 10 spots from Monday's 13th-place ranking.
Natasha Navarro (So., San Antonio, Texas) improved her day-one score by six strokes to finish with a 30-over 174, which placed her in a tie for 56th. Samantha Geisick (Fr., Greely, Colo.) tallied a final score of 31-over 175 to finish in a tie for 60th. Megan McCutcheon (Fr., Monument, Colo.) and Danielle DuPont (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) concluded the tournament with scores of 187 and 188, respectively.
Dixie State College (629) won the tournament by five strokes over second-place finisher, Metro State University of Denver (634). Haley Dunn of Dixie State finished in first-place with a final score of 5-over 149.
The ThunderWolves will play their final fall tournament of the year next week at the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Invitational in Amarillo, Texas. The 36-hole tournament begins Monday at La Paloma Golf Course.
