PUEBLO, Colo. (September 22, 2014) ~ The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's golf team returns to the course this week with an appearance in the Mustang Women's Fall Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Western New Mexico University at Coldwater Creek Golf Club in Avondale, Ariz. The players tee off this morning and will conclude the 36-hole tournament tomorrow afternoon.
A look at the ThunderWolves
CSU-Pueblo tallied a team score of +57 (633) to finish in third place in the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) tournament of the season last week at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton, Colo. The ThunderWolves ended up 13 shots behind first place Metro State University of Denver (+39, 615) and five shots behind second place finisher Regis University (+52, 628).
Junior Leina Kim (Saipan, CNMI) won her second tournament in a row, carding a new RMAC tournament record, posting an overall score of 4-under par 140. On day one of the tournament, Kim broke her own RMAC single-round scoring mark of 69, shooting a 5-under 67.
Julie Sanchez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 154. Samantha Geisick (Fr., Greely, Colo.) recorded her lowest round of the season with a second-round mark of 83 to finish in a tie for 33rd at +23 (167). Megan McCutcheon (Fr., Monument, Colo.) finished the tournament in a tie for 45th place with a 36-hole total of +28 (172). Natasha Navarro (So., San Antonio, Texas) concluded the tournament at +34 (178).
For the season, Kim paces the ThunderWolves with an average round score of 71, while Sanchez is second with an average mark of 77.3 per round. As a team, CSU-Pueblo is carding an average round mark of 319.5.

Coldwater Golf Club
The Forrest Richardson designed Coldwater golf course has large, shaped features that go well beyond the run-of-the-mill mound or hill. The result is a combination of spectacular elevated tees, deep swales and cascading fairways. The course features rolling terrain and dramatic, undulating golf holes. The setting of Coldwater is framed by mountain views, native grasses, meandering washes, and two placid lakes. No two holes are the same. Each is unique and sets up many different options. Every shot presents a thought provoking approach, yet the layout is forgiving and loads of fun.
