CSU-Pueblo falls at Highlands

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team fell 3-1 at New Mexico Highlands University, Friday in Las Vegas, N.M.

Highlands would score first in the 14th minute for the early 1-0 lead.

Brittany Kliesen (Sr., Forward, Pueblo, Colo.) netted a shot in the 36th minute from the top right side of the box to tie the game 1-1 heading into halftime. It is Kliesen's second goal this season.

Highlands held a 5-4 advantage at the half in corner kicks.

The score would remain the same for much of the second half until two goals from the Cowgirls just thirty seconds apart gave the home team a commanding lead.

The Cowgirls led the game 18-7 in shots and finished 7-4 in corner kicks.

Kliesen paced the ThunderWolves with three shots on frame, while goalkeeper Jenn Rucker (Sr., Renton, Wash.) made six saves.

CSU-Pueblo (5-5-2, 3-4-2 RMAC) will return home Sunday and play host to the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Complex.

Admission to the game will be free of charge.
