PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 28, 2012) - The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team ended their season Sunday, losing 2-0 to New Mexico Highlands. The Pack gave up two first half goals as they found themselves in an early deficit.
The Cowgirls wasted little time getting to work scoring on the first shot of the game. Lisa Clausen orchestrated the play after receiving a free kick in the ThunderWolves defensive zone. The kick dropped into the box before being retrieved by Crystal Schuder who finished the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.
Things didn't get any easier for the Pack as the Cowgirls capitalized on another opportunity, scoring their second goal at 27:12. The Cowgirls were able to set up Jasmine Waugaman after a series of passes who send a well placed shot to the far right corner to beat the keeper.
The Pack settled down in the second half as they were able to outshoot New Mexico Highlands 9-6. Alexis DeLaCruz (So., San Bernardino, Calif.) was the most active offensive player finishing with a team-high three shots.
The game was also the last game for five Pack players, who each spent four years with the program. Avila Garcia (Sr., Bosque Farms, N.M.), Sienna Myers (Sr., Centennial, Colo.), Hannah Paulson (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.), Morgan Purkey (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Esther Villa (Sr., El Paso, Texas) each played their final game Sunday.
