Pack defeated in second leg of Silver and Steel series

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 14, 2012) - Looking to gain momentum on a recent string of one goal games, the CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team was defeated 3-1 against rival UC-Colorado Springs.

The Pack got on the board early as captain Abigail Chris (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) was able to retrieve a corner kick from Esther Villa (Sr., El Paso, Texas) in a crowded box and score the opening goal. Even as a defender Chris has been tough to handle as she scored her second goal of the season.

After the break it would be all Mountain Lions, as they erupted with three goals, two of which were scored by Hannah Levett. Levett had one of the better four minute spans in soccer as she netted back-to-back goals to give UCCS the lead in the game.

The Mountain Lions would continue their offensive explosion adding a third goal at 70:24 to give the Mountain Lions some insurance heading into the latter part of the game.

Villa would lead an offensive charge late in the game, rattling off back-to-back shots in the last ten minutes, only to be turned away by reserve keeper Jessica Taylor.

Besides a 12 minutes lapse, the defense for the Pack was stout, holding the Mountain Lions to 15 shots, eight of which were on target. Savannah Thompson (Jr., Upland, Calif.) would finish the game with four saves in 90 minutes of work.

The ThunderWolves will finish off a grueling four game road series when they visit Adams State Friday, with an affair starting at 1 p.m.
