Pack defeated in overtime on senior day

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 30, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team were defeated in a heartbreaker Sunday afternoon, losing in overtime 3-2 to Colorado Mines.

The team battled back after giving up a early goal from Anna Evans. Gabby Gonzales (Sr., Centennial, Colo.) scored on a corner kick just three minutes after Evans scored. Gonzales kick deflected off goalkeeper Penny Rogers before scoring in the upper left corner of the net.

Alicia Irwin (So., North Richland Hills, Tex.) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 34' to put the Pack up 2-1. Melissa Christensen (Sr., Kenosha, Wisc.) saw Irwin streaking towards the net and fed her with a beautiful pass that Irwin finished to the upper right corner.

Colorado Mines was able to tie the game in the second half to send the game overtime on a goal from Megan Woodworth. Woodworth received a pass from Erin Onat that she was able to score on, beating the keeper to the near side.

The Orediggers would add a heartbreaking goal in overtime on another goal from Woodworth. She got a cross from Danielle Hering to score the game-winning goal.

Savannah Thompson (So., Upland, Calif.) finished the game with 15 saves which ties her for fourth all-time for saves in a game. 

The Pack finished the season with a 5-11-3 overall record and a 2-9-3 record in the RMAC.
