Pack draws even against Cougars

Pack dominates offensively, settles for tie

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 21, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team tied 0-0 Friday night against Colorado Christian. The ThunderWolves dominated on the offensive side of the ball outshooting the Cougars 21-9.

The Pack was led by Alicia Irwin (So., North Richland Hills, Tex.) and Melissa Christensen (Sr., Kenosha, Wisc.) who each finished the night with seven shots. Caitlyn Moses was superb in net for the Cougars saving all 15 shots she faced.

The best opportunity for the Pack came late in the second half when Hannah Paulson (Jr., Pueblo West, Colo.) made a nice lob pass over the defenders to spring Christensen. Christensen's shot though, was saved by Moses keeping the game knotted at 0-0.

Another deep shot by Christensen appeared to beat Moses but instead floated high, hitting off the far post.

The Cougars had an opportunity in overtime to win the game when the ThunderWolves committed a foul at the top of the box. The free kick though went high and away from any danger.

The Pack will finish out the weekend on the road when they travel to play Colorado Mesa for the final road game of the season. The game has a 1 p.m. scheduled kick off.
