Pack loses momentum, falls on road to Cowgirls

Las Vegas, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 2, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team fell on the road Sunday losing 2-0 to New Mexico Highlands. The Cowgirls scored a goal in each half to earn the victory at home.

The Pack had trouble getting into a rhythm in the first half and the Cowgirls took advantage of that right off the bat scoring at the three minute mark. Autumn Woods received a series of passes from Julissa Rodriguez and Britny Cottrell to earn the goal.

In the second half the ThunderWolves settled down and began threatening the Cowgirls. Gabby Gonzales (Sr., Centennial, Colo.) was close to scoring the equalizer but her shot faded just wide.

Erin Stephens (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) helped keep the game close coming up with three huge saves in one versus one situations but the Cowgirls would eventually strike in the 64'.

Rodriguez scored her fifth goal of the season on a pass from Keenya Pierre.

The Pack threatened late but would be goals sailed just wide to keep the deficit to two.

Brittany Taylor (Jr., Carol Stream, Ill.) came up huge as a reserve in her ThunderWolf debut.

The Pack will play two consecutive road games beginning Friday when they travel to Alamosa to play Adams State, a team they defeated earlier in the year 2-1. The game has a 3 p.m. scheduled kick-off.
