- The CSU-Pueblo women's soccer team was defeated 4-3
in overtime sunday afternoon by New Mexico Highlands.
The Pack got off to a blazing first half, controlling the game
and scoring two early goals. Tamra
Nee (Fr., Honolulu, HI.) scored her first goal of the
season off a deflection in front of the net. Three minutes later Katie
Thiebaut (Sr.,
Pueblo, Colo) would add her
sixth goal of the year on a shot that beat goalkeeper Amanda Rose
Johnson to the upper right corner.
The momentum would shift back to the Cowgirls in the second half
after two goals evened the game up. The Pack would break the even
tie and take the lead 3-2 when Thiebaut scored her second goal of
the game off a accurately placed kick to the right corner that beat
Johnson.
New Mexico Highlands would respond with a goal from Tierra Saban
to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The game would only last one minute into the overtime as Krista
Mashak took a pass from Britney Cottrell to seal the game in favor
of the Cowgirls.
The loss drops the Pack to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in RMAC
conference play.
The Pack will look to move forward past this game when they
take to the pitch 7 p.m. Friday night in a home
game against Adams State.
