Win sends seniors off on high note

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 24,
2010) - It was a fitting end for ten seniors playing
their final home game of their collegiate careers Sunday. The
Colorado State Univeristy-Pueblo ThunderWolves were able to hold
off the Mavericks to win 1-0, sending the ten players off on a high
note.
Katie
Thiebaut (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) scored the only
goal for the Pack after an apparent misplay by Mavericks goalkeeper
Alicia Kahler. A fitting end for the senior who joined the team
only this year but managed to lead the team in goals with 11.
Goalkeeper Katie Martinet
(Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) earned the win for the
Pack, saving two shots in limited work. Jessica Stumpf
(Sr., Baltimore, Md.) and Savannah
Thompson (Fr., Upland, Calif.) combined
with Martinet to preserve the win for the ThunderWolves.
Sarah Deziel (Jr., Eau Claire, Wisc.),
who was lost year in the preseason due to a knee injury,
was also honored on the day as she got the opportunity to start in
limited time.
The ThunderWolves will finish out the regular season on the road
as they travel to play New Mexico Highlands Friday at 3:00 p.m. and
Colorado School of Mines Sunday at noon.
With the win the ThunderWolves improve to 5-10-1 overall and
3-8-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
