Second half flurry dooms Pack

Pack drop second straight game with loss to Rangers

By Joe Foley, CSU-Pueblo Athletics

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 17, 2010) - The ThunderWolves faced their second tall task of the weekend Sunday when they played the number-two ranked team in the RMAC, Regis, who defeated the Pack 3-1.

The RMAC's leading goal-scorer, Jordan Miller opened up the scoring just six minutes into the game off a corner that was served in by Meghan Stuart. Stuart delivered the ball to Marissa Davis, who headed the ball to Miller for the open shot.

After the early goal, the ThunderWolves battled defensively to keep the game close with Regis. The Packs leading goal-scorer Katie Thiebaut (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) would tie the game in the 63rd minute with a nice pass from Gabby Gonzales (Jr., Centennial, Colo.).

The game would only remain tied eight minutes when Miller would strike again for her second goal of the game. Again, Miller was the recipient of a cross that she would put away to reclaim the Ranger lead.

Regis would add another goal in the 76th minute from Lauren Dorsey-Spitz to secure the victory.

The ThunderWolves are now winless in their last three games on route to a 4-9-1 overall record and 2-7-1 conference record. The Pack will be on the pitch again Friday when they travel to Colorado Christian at 1:00 p.m. They will play their last home game of the season Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when some players will be honored for their career on senior day.
