Early lead evaporates for Pack vs. Mines

Colorado Mines 2, CSU-Pueblo 1

Depite taking an early lead on Colorado Mines, CSU-Pueblo gave up two goals to the Orediggers Friday, falling 2-1 at Rawlings Field.

Jessa Cook (Jr., Idaho Falls, Idaho) tallied her team-leading fifth goal of the season in her trademark early fashion, netting an unassisted goal just six minutes into the match to give the Pack an early 1-0 lead.

But a soul-crushing free kick goal by Mines late in the first half changed the complection of the game for the ThunderWolves, as Mines' striker Kayla Mitchell took a free kick nearly from midfield and buried it into the back of the Pack goal, tying things up in the 39th minute.

In the second half, Mitchell struck again as she scored the game-winner in the 61st minute.

The Pack was able to get off only three shots in the game while the Orediggers recorded 13, with seven coming on goal.

CSU-Pueblo will spend the rest of its weekend on the road when it travels to Metro State for a showdown with the Roadrunners Sunday.
