Pack gets revenge, pitches 1-0 shutout

CSU-Pueblo 1, New Mexico Highlands 0

CSU-Pueblo earned a measure of vengeance Wednesday when it hosted New Mexico Highlands, the team defeated the Pack last Friday, at a wet Rawlings Sports Complex, downing the Cowgirls 1-0.

The ThunderWolves' lone goal came on a perfectly-placed attack by Brittani Montgomery (Fr., El Paso, Tex.), who took a pass from Janel Barnes (Jr., Littleton, Colo.), and rolled the ball by Highlands keeper Lauren Waite for the game-winner just eight minutes into the first period.  The Pack's goal came after Highlands held the ball in the Pack end almost exclusively to begin the game, but unable to come up with any quality chances.

Keeper Randi Walters (Sr., Oxnard, Calif.) threw her first complete shutout of the season, making four saves on the Cowgirls' seven shots.  She led a defensive effort by the Pack that protected the lead well after gaining the 1-0 advantage.

CSU-Pueblo's win is its second straight, evening their record at 2-2 in RMAC play and 3-4-1 overall.  Highlands, meanwhile, falls to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in RMAC play.
