The CSU-Pueblo Women's Soccer team braved through the cold temps
on Sunday to defeat Colorado Christian 2-1 in the last home game
for the Pack, as well as Senior Day.
The Pack struck early in just the fourth minute of the game
when Felicia
Gilbreath (Sr., Colo. Springs,
Colo.) delivered a beautiful cross-pass to the feet
of a waiting Candice Duffy
(Sr., Idaho Falls, Idaho) who then shot
passed a diving Cougar goalkeeper; her fourth of the year.
Battling through the blistering weather conditions, the Pack
played one of their most defensive-dominated performances in
out-shooting the Cougars 9-8.
In the second half, CSU-Pueblo played stellar soccer in keeping
the Cougars from any type of comeback. Almost immediately at
the start of the second half the Pack connected once again on
another nice pass from Melissa Christensen
(So., Kenosha, Wisc.) who
served the ball 20-yards to a waiting and ready Cameron
Giebel (So., Pueblo,
Colo.), her first on the year.
CSU-Pueblo who improves to 5-11-2 (4-9-1 RMAC) will now head on
the road to finish the season as they travel to Mesa State and Fort
Lewis on Friday and Sunday next week.
