At 174, Brendon Kelley (Jr., Evansville, Ind.) went 3-3 and finished sixth at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis. He was the only placer for the Pack at the tournament.
He went 3-0 on day one to reach the semifinal round. In his opening round he secured a 23-8 technical fall victory in the third period. He used a 9-6 decision to advance to the quarters and then took down No. 9 Nate Vandermeer of Findlay University with a first period fall at 1:03 to reach the semis.
He went 0-3 on day two, which included a loss in the semifinal by an 8-2 decision to the No. 5 wrestler in Division II.
The wrestling squad returns to action Jan. 10-11 and will compete in the Tracy Borah Duals hosted by Western Colorado University. The Pack will battle Western Colorado (Jan. 10) and will take on UIndy, Air Force and Findlay on Jan. 11 in Gunnison, Colo.
