D.J. Penick (Jr., Evanston, Ill.) helped to guide CSU-Pueblo in a 21-13 defeat at South Dakota Mines & Technology. Penick finished the contest leading the ground game with 112 yards and a touchdown.

He averaged 5.3 yards per carry on 21 attempts. His touchdown came in the third quarter on fourth-and-two from the three yard line to give the ThunderWolves a 14-13 lead.

His long rush was a 25-yarder where he hurdled a defender down to the Hardrocker nine-yard line. On the next play, quarterback Gunnar Lamphere ran the ball past the goal line to give the Pack an eight point lead at 21-13 early in the fourth quarter.

Pack football, registering in at No. 17 this week in the AFCA poll, will stay on the road and take the field against New Mexico Highlands, Saturday at 1 p.m. in Las Vegas, NM.
