Shjon Andrews (Gr., Longmont, Colo.) scored two goals in a matter of two minutes and helped lead CSU Pueblo men's soccer in a 3-0 clean sheet win over Cal State LA in a NCAA Third Round Match at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
With the win, Andrews and Co., advance to the Super Region IV Final for a third year in a row and will host conference-foe Fort Lewis on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Gonzales Stadium with a spot in the Final Four on the line.
Andrews scored his ninth and tenth goals of the season starting in the 71st minute with the Pack ahead 1-0. Andrews scored after another corner kick and he was able to get above the defense and head the ball into the back of the net.
Moments later, the Pack possessed the ball again in the attacking zone and after another corner and a failed clear attempt, the ThunderWolves kept the ball inside the six-yard box and Andrews was able to get a header on the loose ball that went past the diving keeper for the three goal lead.
Up next, CSU Pueblo will have another opportunity to play in front of its home crowd and take on the Skyhawks. It will be the fourth match-up this season between the teams and the series is knotted at 1-1-1 heading into the weekend.
