Christian Castaneda (Jr., El Paso, Tex.) continues his tear this season and helped guide CSU Pueblo in a big 2-2 series split last week at No. 11 Colorado Mesa. The Pack lost the series opener 12-16 before bouncing back for a 8-7 win in game on on Saturday. The Mavericks took game three 5-3 and the ThunderWolves won the series finale 12-2.
In game one Friday, Castaneda went 3-for-6 at the plate and crushed two home runs and collected three RBI. He scored two runs and one stolen base. In the first game in a doubleheader on Saturday, Castaneda went without a hit but drew a walk with the bases loaded in the seventh inning for the ThunderWolves who scored seven runs in the inning to steal the win.Â
In the finale, Castaneda erupted for another home runs while going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. He slugged a double and scored three runs in the ten-run victory.Â
This season, he leads the Pack in nearly every statistical category. He sits atop in average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI, and slugging.
Up next, Pack baseball hosts Colorado Christian and will start the four-game series on Friday at 3 p.m. at Rawlings Field.
