CSU Pueblo striker Gabriel Campora (Sr., Saltillo, Mexico) has led the men's soccer team to a No. 7 rank nationally and a 6-1-1 start in the first month of the season and last week, he guided CSU Pueblo to a 1-1 record in a pair of nonconference road matches at Mines and No. 25 UCCS.
In two games, Campora scored his league-leading eighth goal of the season and fired nine shots with three landing on frame. His total goals count is fourth-most in Division II.
Thursday at Mines, Campora made five shots and led an offensive attack of 22 shots against nine from Mines. The Orediggers scored in the 55' for a 1-0 win.
In the next outing Sunday against No. 25 UCCS, Campora was able to create space outside the box and fire his first of four shots that struck the back of the net for the one goal lead.
Throughout the match, the Pack outshot the Mountain Lions 15-9, sealing the fourth clean sheet win of the year.
No. 7 CSU Pueblo men's soccer begins conference play at home this week against MSU Denver on Thursday at 7 p.m. and a re-match with Mines on Sunday starting at 1 p.m., both games at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
