On Feb. 26, 2016, Jill Muhe was announced as the 12th head coach in CSU-Pueblo Volleyball history. In her first season at the helm for CSU-Pueblo, Muhe guided the Pack to their program-record third consecutive RMAC Tournament appearance.
In 2016, Muhe's ThunderWolves went 12-16 with a 10-8 record in RMAC games. Under Muhe's tutelage, Katie Burnett set single match, single-season, and career digging records at CSU-Pueblo. Caitlin Broadwell and Mariangel Perez were named Second Team All-RMAC, while Burnett earned an honorable mention nod.
Academically, Burnett and Megan Schultz each earned First Team Academic All-RMAC honors. Three more ThunderWolves made the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll. Â
Muhe brought 10 total seasons of collegiate coaching experience to CSU-Pueblo. She has worked in college athletics since 2000.
Muhe came to CSU-Pueblo from San Francisco State University where she guided the Gators for the last three seasons. In Muhe's three seasons at San Francisco State, the Gators posted a 41- 43 record, including a 32-32 record in conference games.
During Muhe's stint in San Francisco, the Gators posted their first back-to-back winning seasons since the school joined the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Over the past three seasons, five Gators have earned all-conference nods. Muhe's Gators also won the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Team Academic Award for the first time in program history.
Prior to her time with the Gators, Muhe served as the head coach at Briar Cliff University of the NAIA from 2010-12. She led the Chargers to their first NAIA National Tournament Appearance in her first season. The Chargers had 10 all-conference selections during Muhe's three-year run and were named an NAIA Scholar Team in each of her three seasons at the helm.
Muhe played volleyball collegiately at the University of California Davis from 1993-96. The Californian received North Coast Athletic Conference MVP honors as a senior. She helped the Aggies to three conference titles in her four seasons. Muhe earned first-team All-NCAC honors and All-Southwest Region honors twice as an Aggie. In 2016,Muhe was elected to the UC-Davis Athletics Hall of Fame.
Following graduation, Muhe played on the Association of Volleyball professionals Beach Tour from 2000-2010. Muhe also worked as an athletic trainer from 2001-10, serving as the head athletic trainer for Oxnard College from 2005-10 and the staff athletic trainer for Disneyland from 2004-05.
Dedicated to the pursuit of education for her players and herself, Muhe graduated with a Bachelors in Exercise Science from UC Davis in 1999. She earned a Masters of Business Administration in 2001 from LaVerne University. In 2015, Muhe earned a PhD in Organizational Management from Capella University.
Respected by her peers, Muhe spoke at the 2015 AVCA Convention. She taught her fellow coaches lessons in emotional intelligence.
Muhe is married to her husband, Joe Muhe. She has two pet dogs named Mocha and Zuma.
