Kyle Mossbrucker begins his sixth season as an assistant coach with CSU Pueblo. He owns the title of special teams coordinator and enters his third year as the recruiting coordinator. This seson he will also be working with the tight ends. 

Punting and punt returning were again solid for the Pack in 2019, as Isaiah Diggs was named an All-RMAC First Team punt returner and punter Justin Dwinell was named All-RMAC Second Team. Diggs led the league in punt return yards (447), while his 11.3 yards per punt return at the end of the regular season ranked No. 18 in Division II. In his first year punting, Dwinell averaged 41.0 yards per punt at the end of the regular season to sit third in the conference and 22nd nationally. Dwinell racked up four RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week awards and was named D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week twice. The ThunderWolves finished third in the RMAC in punt returns (10.3 ypr) and fourth in net punting (35.7 ypp). CSU Pueblo totaled three blocked kicks on the season and allowed just two. Kicker Mitchell Carter led the team and ranked fourth in the conference in scoring with 81 points.

The 2018 season proved to be a quality year for the special teams unit. Kicker Mitchell Carter gathered All-American honors for his efforts. He was fifth nationally in field goals per game (1.46 fgpg) and 13th in Division II in total points (114 points). Punt returner Kevin Ribarich led the RMAC for the second year in a row in punt return average (8.0 ypr) and was named All-RMAC First Team. Pack punter Tanner Cuda was named All-RMAC Second Team after after finishing his senior season 12th nationally in punting (42.6 ypp). As a unit, the ThunderWolves were second nationally in net punting (39.25 ypp) and seventh in kick returns (25.96 ypr). 

In 2017, three members of the special teams unit were tabbed All-RMAC. Kevin Ribarich was a first team punt returner after leading the RMAC in punt return average with 10.1 yards per return. Mitchell Carter gathered second team honors after leading the RMAC in scoring among kickers (91 points) and was second in field goals made (12-of-15) and extra points made (55-for-56). Finally, punter Tanner Cuda was recognized as honorable mention for his 38.3 yards per punt average and 25 punts inside the 20. 

Daniel Wise was named all-region and all-conference for his kick return abilities in 2016 after finishing 10th nationally in punt returns (15.8 ypr). As a team, the Pack ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division II in punt returns (15.1 ypr) and were third in the RMAC in kick returns (21.2 ypr). The ThunderWolves blocked four kicks to rank third in the league.

In 2015, the ThunderWolves finished eighth nationally in kickoff returns (24.72 ypr), which included Kieren Duncan’s a rank of 18th in combined kick return yards (804 yards). The Pack blocked four kicks, which included two punts. 

Mossbrucker has spent the previous four seasons at University of Indianapolis, working with the defensive backs. He also helped with special teams and out-of-state recruiting.

In his time with the Greyhounds, Coach “Moss” has mentored a number of all-conference honorees, including John Strickland (2012-13), Koby Orris (2012-13), Andre Smith (2013), Nate Jackson (2011) and Collin Coffer (2011).

After spending his freshman season at Purdue, Mossbrucker spent three seasons as the Hounds’ place kicker. The Mooresville, Ind., native led University of Indianapolis in points scored (62) in 2006 and finished with a career field goal percentage of 70.6, a top mark in program history.

Part of Mooreville High School’s class of 2005, Mossbrucker holds multiple school records at MHS, including most field goals and extra points made, as well as most touchdown passes and completions. In 2004, he won an Indiana Mr. Football Position Award as the state’s top kicker and was named an IFCA All-Star in 2005.

Mossbrucker graduated from UIndy in 2009 with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Computer Information Science. He is a member of both the Indiana Football Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association.
