Colorado State University Pueblo first-year head football coach Philip Vigil has announced that Jack Rasmussen has joined the ThunderWolves’ as a special teams specialist coach.
 
Rasmussen comes to CSU Pueblo after completing his collegiate playing career in 2022 at Western New Mexico University. He played at Western New Mexico for both Vigil and current CSU Pueblo Associate Head Coach Mac Alexander.
 
During his final season of collegiate football in 2022, Rasmussen punted 60 times in 11 games for the Mustangs. He recorded 2,604 punting yards and averaged 43.4 yards per punt, which was fourth-best in NCAA Division II and had two touchbacks, 15 fair catches, downed 21 punts inside the 20-yard line and had 14 of his punts travel over 50 yards, including a high of 66 yards at Central Washington University.
 
He was named a First-Team All-LSC performer and a First-Team All-Super Region 4 selection. Additionally, he was named an Honorable Mention Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-American.
 
Prior to playing the 2022 season at Western New Mexico, Rasmussen, who is a native of Baltimore, Md., played three seasons (2018-21) as Missouri Western State University, an MIAA school in St. Joseph, Mo. In his time with the Griffons, he recorded 43 punts in 18 games and tallied 1,672 punt yards and averaged 38.9 yards per punt. He had four touchbacks, 20 fair catches, put 11 of his punts inside the 20-yard line and had four punts go over 50-plus years. He was also the captain of the Griffons football program.
 
During his time as a student-athlete at Missouri Western, Rasmussen was the founder of Jalmarr, Inc., which has developed a patent for solutions to cleats for student-athletes to help prevent knee injuries. He wrote a patent for injury prevention technology and was awarded a patent for that and seven others. He partnered with Oregon’s Bowerman Sports Science Clinic to conduct element modeling with the patented-idea and then worked with Portland’s i-Generator to develop seven patents for his cleat design.
 
He began his collegiate career in 2017 at Glendale Community College. In his lone season at Glendale CC, Rasmussen, put 16 punts inside the 20-yard line and was second in the ACCAC in punts with 39 and punted. He punted for 1,377 yards.
 
Rasmussen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Management from Missouri Western State University in 2020 and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Missouri Western State University in 2023. During his undergraduate days at Missouri Western, Rasumssen was a member of the Dean’s List in four out of five semesters and carried a 3.1 GPA.
 
He graduated from Cartsonville High School in 2017.
