Scott Murray enters his third season as an assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach in 2019-20. His focus will be on the throwers.
In his third year with the Thunderwolves, Murray returns three NCAA All-Americans in the shot put. So far this season, Justin Jenks and Nate Miller have thrown top 10 all-time marks in the indoor shot put sitting 8th and 10th respectively in their events and are seeded 1st and 2nd going into the championship. In the 2021 indoor season Jenna McKinley placed 6th at the NCAA championships and teammates Nate Miller and Justin Jenks placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the shot put.
Since Murray joined the team in 2019 the throwers have seen eight school records broken in the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor Shot Put, men’s and women’s Weight Throw and men’s and women’s Hammer.
Murray came to CSU-Pueblo from Boise State University where he served as a graduate assistant for a season after spending the 2018 outdoor season as a volunteer with the Broncos.
Murray had an immediate impact on Boise State's throwers as a volunteer. On the women’s side, Kendra Noneman and freshman Liz Gaffney scored a combined five points at the Mountain West Championships in the hammer throw and javelin throw, respectively. Sophomore Emily Stiles also threw a West Preliminary qualifier in the javelin, but was unable to compete due to injury.
