Ryan Potts joined the CSU Pueblo coaching staff in August of 2021 as an assistant coach. Potts will serve as the pitching coach for the ThunderWolves.
Prior to joining the CSU Pueblo baseball program, Potts served as the head coach at Athletic Performance, Inc. in Maryland where he was the head coach of the 16U National Team. He also served as the Pitching Coordinator at Athletic Performance where he led the development of all pitching activities in camps, clinics, lessons, and more than 11 travel teams.
Potts started his career in collegiate athletics as an intern at Naval Academy working with the marketing department in support of the 33 different athletic programs and additional sponsorship accounts.
As a collegiate baseball player, Potts pitched for Shepherd University in West Virginia. While at Shepherd, he was a Preseason All- American, a two-time D2CCAA All-Region honoree, while also being selected to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team and the NCBWA All-Region Second Team. Potts was also named to the First Team All-MEC in 2018 and 2019, behind three conference pitcher of the week honors in his career.
In the postseason, Potts earned a pair of MEC All-Tournament Team nods during the 2017 and 2018 conference tournaments. He currently holds two school records at Shepherd, Most Strikeouts in a season (118), Single Game Strikeouts (15), and is tied for the most wins by a pitcher in a season with 11.
Potts is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach along with having certifications from Rapsodo, NPA, and Driveline Baseball Academy.
Potts graduated from Shepherd in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and sports studies with a major concentration in sports marketing and a minor in business.
He currently resides in Pueblo.
