COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2026-27 Women's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, with Colorado State University Pueblo selected as the preseason favorite to capture the RMAC title.
The preseason recognition comes as the ThunderWolves look to continue one of the most successful stretches in program history. CSU Pueblo enters the 2026-27 season as the four-time defending RMAC Champion and is coming off a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw the Pack qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time in program history.
The ThunderWolves made their national championship debut last spring at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, putting the finishing touches on a landmark season for the program.
Koschke Returns to Lead Women's Program
The 2026-27 season will also mark the return of Josh Koschke to the helm of the CSU Pueblo women's golf program. Koschke has taken over as the Director of Golf at CSU Pueblo and will lead both the ThunderWolves' men's and women's programs.
Koschke is no stranger to the women's program, having last served as its head coach during the 2022-23 season.
Since then, Koschke has continued to build the CSU Pueblo men's golf program into a consistent postseason contender. He has guided the ThunderWolves' men to nine consecutive postseason appearances, and he will now bring that experience back to the women's side as the Pack looks to extend its championship run.
Koschke inherits a women's program that has established itself as the standard in the RMAC with four consecutive conference championships and is fresh off its first trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Experienced Core Returns
Despite losing two key pieces from last year's historic lineup, the Pack returns an accomplished core that will look to keep CSU Pueblo atop the RMAC.
CSU Pueblo lost senior captain Freya Constable to graduation, while Thale Victoria Estensen departed the program through the transfer portal to continue her collegiate career at the NCAA Division I level.
Returning to lead the ThunderWolves are Lisa Ekberg, Olivia Heard and Yale Lee, all three of whom earned First Team All-RMAC honors last season.
The return of Ekberg, Heard and Lee gives the Pack three of the conference's top returning golfers along with a wealth of championship and postseason experience. The trio helped CSU Pueblo capture its fourth consecutive RMAC title last spring before helping lead the ThunderWolves to their historic first appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
With three First Team All-RMAC selections back in the lineup, the ThunderWolves will begin their pursuit of a fifth consecutive conference championship under Koschke.
Pack Opens Season in Wyoming
The ThunderWolves will compete in four tournaments during the fall portion of their 2026-27 schedule.
CSU Pueblo will tee off its season Sept. 13-15 in Sheridan, Wyoming, at the Travis Roy Memorial Invite, hosted by South Dakota Mines at Powder Horn Golf Club.
The season-opening tournament will begin another championship pursuit for a CSU Pueblo program carrying the momentum of four consecutive RMAC titles and its first appearance on the national stage.
With Koschke back at the helm and three First Team All-RMAC performers returning to anchor the lineup, the ThunderWolves enter 2026-27 with high expectations and a target on their backs after once again being selected as the team to beat in the RMAC.
