ThunderWolves Set to Host NCAA West Regional with National Championship Berth on the Line

PUEBLO, Colo. - Riding the momentum of a historic season, the Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf team is set to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division II West Regional, hosted at Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colorado. The ThunderWolves enter the field as the No. 5 seed in a loaded 18-team regional, looking to capitalize on home-course familiarity as they chase a return trip to the national stage.

The West Regional features some of the top programs in the country, headlined by defending national champion Dallas Baptist University as the No. 1 seed. UT Tyler comes in at No. 2, followed by Cal State San Marcos at No. 3 and St. Mary's at No. 4. The ThunderWolves round out the top five, with only the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships, scheduled for May 12–16 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

CSU Pueblo enters postseason play fresh off its fourth consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship, continuing a dominant run atop the league. The title adds to what has already been a record-setting campaign for the Pack, which has captured a school-record six tournament victories while compiling eight top-three finishes throughout the year. Currently ranked No. 29 nationally, the ThunderWolves have proven themselves as one of the most consistent teams in Division II under interim head coach John Wristen.

There's an added layer of confidence for CSU Pueblo heading into the week, as the ThunderWolves will compete on a course they know well. Back in the fall, the Pack hosted a regional preview at Pueblo Country Club and delivered a strong third-place finish in a 21-team field. If history repeats itself, that result would be more than enough to punch their ticket to nationals.

During that preview event, Yale Lee paced the ThunderWolves with a steady performance, posting rounds of 75 and 74 to finish at seven-over par on a demanding par-71 layout that played at just under 6,000 yards. Her experience on the course will be a valuable asset as CSU Pueblo navigates the pressures of postseason play.

Leading the charge this season has been standout freshman Thale Victoria Estensen, whose consistent scoring has anchored the ThunderWolves lineup throughout the year. Alongside her, the Pack will lean on veteran leadership from junior Lisa Ekberg and senior captain Freya Constable. Constable brings a wealth of postseason experience, making her fourth consecutive NCAA appearance, while Ekberg adds stability with her third straight trip to regionals.

The lineup is further bolstered by Olivia Heard, a junior from the United Kingdom making her NCAA postseason debut after a strong first season with the ThunderWolves, and Yale Lee, who returns for her second straight regional appearance.

With a championship pedigree, a deep and experienced lineup, and the advantage of competing on their home course, the ThunderWolves are well-positioned to make a serious push toward nationals. The margin for error will be slim in a field stacked with elite competition, but CSU Pueblo has already proven this season that it can rise to the occasion.

Now, with everything on the line, the Pack will look to do it once more—this time with a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships hanging in the balance.
