TUCSON, Ariz. - Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf put together a strong closing round on Tuesday, climbing the leaderboard to finish in a tie for second at the West Texas Desert Invite, hosted at Ventana Canyon Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.
After opening the tournament at 11-over par, the ThunderWolves battled through another challenging day on the desert track, carding a 15-over team score in round two. The steady play proved enough to vault the Pack from third into a tie for second place, finishing alongside Angelo State and ahead of a loaded West Region field.
Senior captain Freya Constable led the way once again, delivering one of the most consistent performances of the tournament. Constable fired a second straight round of 73 to finish at 2-over par, earning a third-place individual finish. She was also the top finisher among RMAC competitors, continuing to anchor the ThunderWolves lineup with poise and reliability.
Olivia Heard turned in the second-best finish for CSU Pueblo, tying for 14th overall. After an even-par 72 in the opening round, Heard carded a 6-over 78 on day two to finish the tournament at 6-over par.
Yale Lee provided a solid two-day effort, finishing tied for 24th at 10-over par. Lee improved in round two with a 4-over 76 following her 78 on day one.
Lisa Ekberg showcased one of the strongest bounce-back rounds of the field. After opening with a 79, Ekberg responded with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to climb into a tie for 28th place at 11-over par.
Rounding out the ThunderWolves' lineup was freshman Thale Victoria Estensen. The Norway native opened with a 4-over 76 but ran into trouble in the final round, posting a 13-over 85, which was ultimately used as the team's throwout score.
West Texas A&M claimed the team title with consistent rounds of 7-over in both rounds, while CSU Pueblo matched Angelo State for second place in the 14-team field. The ThunderWolves' finish was particularly significant as they outpaced several key West Region opponents they are likely to see again in postseason competition.
With the regular season now complete, CSU Pueblo turns its focus to the RMAC Championships, set for April 19–21 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, where the Pack will look to carry their momentum into the postseason.
