GOLDEN, Colo. (April 24, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team split a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) games against Colorado School of Mines on Friday, dropping the opener 3-1 before bouncing back with a convincing 8-5 victory in the nightcap.
Game 1: CSU Pueblo 1, Mines 3
In a pitcher's duel that lasted just over 90 minutes, the Orediggers managed to edge out the ThunderWolves.
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) pitched a complete game for the Pack, allowing only two earned runs on six hits while striking out three.
Offensively, CSU Pueblo struggled to find a rhythm against Mines' Taylor Wayne. The Pack's lone run came in the top of the sixth inning when
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.), who had reached base earlier, eventually crossed the plate to cut the lead to 2-1. Reimler finished the game 2-for-2 with a walk.
Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) and
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) contributed hits, but the Pack left six runners on base in the loss.
Game 2: CSU Pueblo 8, Mines 5
The ThunderWolves' bats came alive in the second game, racking up 13 hits to secure the split. The Pack established an early lead and never looked back, scoring in four of the seven innings.
Caitlyn Cole led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) was a major factor in the middle of the lineup, driving in three runs on two hits, including a double.
Cali Cole (So., Merced, Calif.) also had a standout performance, scoring three times and recording a triple.
In the circle,
Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) and
Jaylah Rivera (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) combined to keep the Orediggers at bay. Rivera earned the win in relief, throwing four innings and navigating through a late Mines rally. The Pack defense also stepped up, turning two double plays to end potential threats.
