GOLDEN, Colo. (April 25, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team closed out a key Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) series on a high note Saturday, earning a doubleheader sweep over Colorado School of Mines with a 3-2 victory in game one followed by a dominant 9-1 run-rule win in five innings in the finale.
With the wins, the ThunderWolves (36-14, 32-8 RMAC) are now locked in at the No. 2 seed for the upcoming RMAC Tournament with one series left in the regular season. The Pack's second place finish is the highest finish for CSU Pueblo since 2006.
Game One: CSU Pueblo 3, Mines 2
The opener was a tightly contested batted, with the ThunderWolves using timely hitting and another strong outing in the circle to secure the one-run victory.
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) powered the CSU Pueblo offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Her biggest swing game in the fourth inning, when she launched her third home run of the year.
Mines cut into the lead in the fifth before the ThunderWolves responded in the sixth and scored an insurance run off a sac fly from
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.), scoring Huerta from third.
In the circle,
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) delivered yet another complete-game performance. The right-handed hurler scattered seven hits while allowing just two earned runs and striking out six. James remained composed throughout, shutting down key scoring threats including in the seventh and the tying run in scoring position, James got the strikeout and earned her 18th win of the season.
Game Two: CSU Pueblo 9, Mines 1 (5 inn.)
The ThunderWolves wasted no time taking control in the series finale, erupting offensively for seven runs through three innings.
The offense got it started in the first and jumped out to a 4-0 lead, highlighted by RBI hits from Reimler, James and
Emma Case (Jr., Loveland, Colo.).
Two more runs would score in the second on a ground out and aggressive base running from the Pack, caused an error against the Orediggers and the sixth run to score.
In the third inning,
Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) singled up the middle with two outs and scored next on a double from
Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) to give the ThunderWolves a commanding 7-1 lead.

North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) was dominant from start to finish. After giving up a home run to start the first, Cooper settled in and tossed a complete game, allowing just one more hit the rest of the game while striking out four. She kept Mines hitters off balance all game long to pick up her sixth win of the season.

CSU Pueblo returns home to Rawlings Softball Complex for the regular season finale against No. 5 Colorado Christian starting Thursday. The series will also serve as Senior Weekend as the ThunderWolves will honor six players who will take the field for the last time at home.
